Bethesda: Past & Present

Dyffryn Ogwen Camera Club would like you to 'update' some old pictures of Bethesda!

We've selected over 30 pictures of Bethesda High Street, from an engraving dated 1813 right through to pictures from the 1990s. They show views of the town that we would like you to update. Each of the pictures is represented by a pin on the map below. By clicking on the photos below, or the pin on the map, you can see the location in more detail, including a description of where the photo was taken. As you expand the map, more pins will be revealed.

We would like you to try and bring the images up-to-date, by going to one or more of the locations and taking a picture from the same viewpoint, so we can see how Bethesda has changed over the years.

All submissions will be shown on the same page as the original 'old' pictures until the end of June 2021.

PUBLIC PROJECTION

All the old images we received, and some new ones, will be projected onto a wall at Tan Tŵr Gardens (Annies Ogwen) on Friday 16th April and Saturday 17th April. See Facebook for more details, but please remember social distancing - keep 2m apart and wear a mask. Many thanks!

CELEBRATORY BIKE RIDE

Join Dei Fôn Williams as he celebrates the town's bicentenary and takes a bike ride through Bethesda on a lovely spring day - Diolch Dei!
