Ffrancon Gardens

Gerddi Ffrancon started in May 2021 with the encouragement of farms and social gardens. The site has been established on the side of the Plas Ffrancon leisure centre, with the help of Byw yn Iach company, who are keen to improve the site, improve biodiversity, and offer outdoor activities on their land.

One part of the site is for small allotments for individuals. This started in September 2021, and 17 people have rented a piece of land. On the other side is a community garden. There is a weekly gardening group (usually between 3 and 5 people). They grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit. They grow organically, without chemicals. They hope the soil and wildlife will benefit.

People garden for company, to be out in the fresh air, to grow delicious food, for a healthy mind and a healthy body. The gardening group meets on Tuesday afternoons, usually 2- 4:30. Sometimes there are additional activities with groups. It’s good to see the garden being used.

Anyone is welcome to enjoy the garden, water the plants if necessary, sit on the bench, go for a walk, look at the flowers, smell the herbs, and taste the produce. Anyone is welcome to join in the fun!

Gerddi Ffrancon is a project by Dyffryn Gwyrdd, which is part of Partneriaeth Ogwen.
